Animal Rescue of Tidewater
is seeking volunteers
to help with The Animal Rescue of Tidewater's (ART)
new spay/neuter initiative in Ocean View. This
initiative aims to reduce euthanasia rates and
shelter intakes in Norfolk by reducing the supply of
cats of dogs. ART is currently able to provide
this mobile clinic WEEKLY to Ocean View residents,
but the program is at risk of being CANCELLED if we
cannot keep it fully booked every week.
In order to continue this
service and ensure the clinic stays full, ART needs
volunteers to help distribute informative flyers
throughout Ocean View. Group flyer distribution
takes place EVERY SATURDAY, but any help on any day

Eggleston Services,
a not-for-profit organization providing services to
persons with disabilities is seeking a volunteer
photographer to capture images of employees
participating in our various program operations.
These images are used in our marketing materials
including newsletters, our company website, in Power
Point presentations, and posters and brochures.
Photography is also
needed at various company events as they come up
throughout the year. This is a good
opportunity for photographers seeking to expand
their professional portfolio while volunteering for
a non-for-profit organization with an important
social mission. Full photo credits are given for
images we use. The individual we are seeking does
not need to be a professional photographer but must
be competent in the photography field, have reliable

Eggleston Services,
a not-for-profit organization providing services to
persons with disabilities is seeking a group of
volunteers for a project at our Camp Civitan site.
Since 1999, Eggleston Services has been providing
an array of services at Camp Civitan. Located in
Chesapeake, VA on 14-acres, Camp Civitan provides
vacation opportunities and a year-round wellness
program for adults with intellectual and/or physical
disabilities.
The camp is currently making
preparations for cleaning and storage of summer camp
equipment and is in need of a group of approximately
ten(10) volunteers to assist with moving furniture
and equipment.
Heavy
lifting will be required to store furniture(beds,
tables, etc) This project will require two-three
hours of time and can be completed between the
hours of 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon on a Saturday and
assistance will only be needed for one day.

EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program
is seeking volunteers who can provide assistance on
Tuesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for our
school partnership program to begin in March.
Volunteers work with special needs students under
the direction for the EQUI-KIDS instructor. No
horse experience is necessary; training is provided
and mandatory. Volunteer opportunities include
sidewalkers, horse leaders, and classroom
assistants. Training dates are now available.

Foodbank
of Southeastern Virginia
is looking for volunteers in several areas:
For their safety,
absolutely NO children under 12 years of age are
permitted in food handling areas. Children
between the ages of 12-16 years of age are permitted
to volunteer only if they are accompanied by an
adult guardian.
For your safety,
covered shoes must be worn in the sorting room and
warehouse areas. Flip-flops, sandals and open toe
shoes cannot be worn and no one will be permitted
into these areas without proper shoes.
The Foodbank no longer accepts court ordered
volunteering.
Food & Fund Drive Team: This will be a
specially-trained team of volunteers, capable of
working special food and fund drive events as they
occur. Training is required for this elite
team, and a commitment to participate in at least 1
event per month as needed, is also required.
Sorting Room Team
Leaders:
Individuals needed to
volunteer their time 3½ hours (from 8:30am-12:00
noon) one Saturday every other month working as part
of a four person lead team. This team would guide &
supervise weekend volunteer groups in food sorting
tasks. Training will be provided. Individuals must
be willing to commit to 4 training sessions and be
willing to work a minimum of 3 ½ hours – one
Saturday every other month. 32 needed.
Sorting Room:
Volunteers are needed to assist in the inspecting
and sorting of food product while checking
expiration dates and container integrity.

Volunteers are needed for
general warehouse work aiding staff members in
pulling and staging daily agency orders, general
cleaning of the warehouse and facility. Some tasks
will require the ability to lift and move cartons
weighting up to 50 lbs.

Distribution:
Volunteers needed to condense bins to keep them
stocked, assist agencies with loading orders into
vehicles; sweeping and mopping when needed and

Administrative Team: Volunteers will help with
administrative work during Foodbank office hours,
which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. Computer skills a plus.
Volunteers would work at various times with the
different departments doing office tasks that
include some data input, filing, reception area
assistance, forms review, counting and other tasks
as required. Additionally, we will be training
some members of this team to do tours for visitors
of the Foodbank. Attire for this team is
business casual. Training will be provided.
Back Packs for Kids: This program
provides food for youngsters to take home on the
weekends. We are in need of the following
volunteers for this program: 20 Back Pack Team
Leaders to come in and train to lead groups of
volunteers in assembly and storage of the bags.
Team leaders will work on a rotating basis.
Must be willing to work at least one Saturday
morning or one Monday evening a month to assemble
bags. 10 Delivery Drivers are also needed for
this program. Volunteers will assist with
driving and delivering back packs to the schools.
Must have a current drivers license and be able to
drive a 15 passenger van and/or small truck.
Drivers will also need to be available during the
day, as delivery days are currently scheduled for
Wednesdays and Thursdays, two times a month.
We also need volunteers to ride along with the
driver to assist with unloading the vehicle.
Volunteers must be able to lift a tote weighing
approximately 40 to 50 pounds.

Friends of the Portsmouth Juvenile Court
is looking for volunteers in several areas:
Volunteers
are needed to advocate for abused and neglected
children by investigating assigned cases and
recommending a course of action to Portsmouth
Juvenile Court judges. Volunteers must be at least
25 years old, attend a 34-hour training course and
give a minimum commitment of one year.
Volunteers
are needed to assist probation and/or parole
officers in all aspects of work related to juvenile
offenders. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old
and able to make a minimum commitment of four
months. This position may also serve as an
internship and on-site training is provided.
Volunteers are needed to provide
one-on-one mentoring for Portsmouth middle school
age children. Volunteers must be at least 18 years
old, attend a 3-hour training course, provide their
own transportation and give a minimum one-year
commitment.
Volunteers are needed to transport
family members of incarcerated children to Virginia
juvenile correction centers for visitation.
Volunteers must be at least 23 years old and
available one Sunday per month. A minimum commitment
of one-year is required and this position pays a
small stipend.
Volunteers
are needed to supervise and mentor teenagers
referred to the agency’s community service program.
Volunteers must provide guidance, structure and
direction while demonstrating a positive work ethic.
Candidates must be at least 25 years old.

The Hermitage Museum and Gardens
is seeking volunteers to act
as Docents. Docents will take visitors on guided
tours of the first floor of the home, focusing on
The Sloane Family, their contribution to the region
as well as their art collection, The Sloane
Collection, which spans 5,000 years of worldwide art
and history. Training is provided on a bi-weekly
basis throughout the year. Tours are given Fridays

Fondation
is seeking volunteers to be
part of the newly formed “Weekend Warrior” Committee
for the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival. Only 5
volunteers are needed. The committee will be
responsible for a variety of tasks throughout the
festival weekend to include, but not limited to,
festival block captains, student exhibit and artist
relief. Volunteers will need to commit the full
weekend of the festivals (Friday late afternoon
through Sunday night) which are held twice a year

business/military community to facilitate Junior
Achievement (JA) programs to students in local
schools.
JA is a non-profit organization that partners with
volunteers from the community to facilitate fun,

school students in Hampton Roads as well as
