VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads can help your
company achieve its goals for corporate citizenship
and social responsibility. Because of our 50 years
of experience in working with nonprofits and
volunteers, we know how to identify and address real
community needs, organize effective volunteer
opportunities, manage projects and people, and
what it takes to motivate volunteers. We also
understand businesses and how to plan and manage
workplace volunteer programs that effectively meet
the goals of companies, employees and the community.
The
Hampton Roads Corporate Volunteer Council (HRCVC)
is our tool to support excellent workplace
volunteerism.
The Corporate Volunteer Council is the primary local resource to
encourage, educate and connect businesses that
support employee volunteer programs as a business
strategy that benefits the whole community.
It facilitates professional development, heightens
knowledge of community needs and serves as a
catalyst for businesses to build, implement and
promote successful outreach programs.
Membership
benefits include:
-
Best practices for managing workplace volunteer
programs
-
Increased knowledge of community needs
-
Leadership opportunities
-
Increased visibility
-
Collaborations to effectively address social
needs too complex for one organization to tackle
alone (click here
for a list of 2007 group projects)
The council meets on the third Wednesday of every
month at
8:30 a.m. at VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads office
located at 400 West Olney Road, Suite B in Norfolk. For more information about the council

Kids Can Cope Day
On
Saturday, June 21, 2008 members from the
Hampton
Roads Corporate Council joined together
for Kids Can
Cope Day at the Virginia Zoo.
The event was held for the siblings of the children
who are under the care of EDMARC Children’s
Hospice. The day was spent visiting the zoo
exhibits and was followed by a pizza party.

A special thank you to Booz Allen Hamilton
for providing lunch and zoo t-shirts to all the
participating children.
