Kayak Paddle Guide
Come stretch your sea legs with us during one of our guided kayak tours! We are looking for experienced kayakers for our moderate paced, 2-hour adventures on the Hoffler Creek. You will arrive 45 minutes early to help with sign in, life jacket fitting and boat launching. You will then follow the lead guide and offer any assistance needed while taking in the unique views and learning about our waterways!
Job Duties:
Guides/help guide guests who have registered for guided paddles
Provide/help guide present safety instruction before paddle and on the water
Instruct guests on how to use kayaks
Interpret/learn sights and unique qualities of the waterway and preserve
Have basic understanding and ability to do all duties of kayak volunteers
Job Requirements:
Have basic first aid and rescue skills
Understand tides, weather and have a knowledge of local waterways
Ability to verbally instruct others in safety situations
Ability to walk, stand, paddle and swim for extended periods of time
Have an overall understanding of the Chesapeake Bay watershed including
forests, wetlands, and environmental impacts
Have or willingness to pursue ACA Level 1 kayak certification a plus
Basic understanding of boating and waterway rules and regulations
Time commitment expectation:
Minimum 3-6 hours a month.
Can work up to 30 hours a month.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 18+, Minimum Age:18+
