The mission of Lets Open Doors is to support the civil right of Equal Access for persons with disabilities and the aging population by advocating the Accessibility of all entry doors. Our mission is multi-generational. Aging begins at birth, so parents with small children as well as elderly and persons with disabilities face hurtful, overly pressured older entry doors. To manage equipment while trying to open entry doors to goods and services found on existing buildings constructed prior to the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 causes anxiety and physical danger. We advocate the updating of entry door hardware to ADA compliant door hardware -low cost and readily achievable - for a socially responsible solution to accommodate those with health and age concerns.
Updating hardware on multiple doors offers a 50% IRS Disability Tax Credit. It's a "socially responsible" and transformative act by property owners. The replacement of old door hardware to ADA compliant hardware assists their tenant businesses and demonstrates integrity in doing business with clientele, accommodating their patrons' safety, dignity and independence.
