Thank you to our volunteers and all who took the time to come out and express your messages of hope, hurt, healing and strength. The banners are filled with beautiful color and creative expressions of love and support for all affected by the mass shooting on May 31, 2019 at the Virginia Beach Municipal Building. We are particularly grateful for our business partners who hosted the signs, providing the space and encouragement for Hampton Roads to come together with Signs of Strength.

This spirit of service that lives in the 757 continues to honor those we lost and all who were impacted by the tragedy. Join VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads after taking the City of Virginia Beach's Pledge to Serve and register to volunteer in one of the focus areas here.

Signs of Strength is a campaign created by VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads to demonstrate the strength and support our community has shown in response to the Virginia Beach Municipal Shooting. 12 Banners were posted throughout Hampton Roads for the public to sign and send their messages of condolence, hope, hurt, or healing. Each sign was hosted by the 12 business listed above. The banners will be gifted to the City of Virginia Beach in the months to come.
