The Bra-Ha-Ha
Dates: 9/24/2017 - 10/8/2017
Over the past several years, the Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation has hosted The Bra-ha-ha®, a fundraising event that brings together people of all walks of life to decorate bras in some of the most creative, hilarious and eye-catching ways imaginable. Each bra tells a story of hope, perseverance and support. The bras are assembled in an art exhibit to celebrate the stories, the survivors and the spirit of those working to promote breast health. From the proceeds of the 2016 event, 100 underserved women received breast care screenings and mammograms, seven of those women needed biopsies and one was found with breast cancer. Thanks to community support and early detection, these women are receiving treatment and have a chance to fight. Bra Makers drop their bras off September 24th through September 27th between 12pm and 6pm. The bras are then displayed from October 2nd through October 8th from 10am to 8pm. We need volunteers to help with bra intake and to greet people at the display. It all takes place at MacArthur Center in Norfolk and we're looking for people to work two hour shifts, with two people per shift.
