YWCA of South Hampton Roads- Package Shelter Welcome Baskets

The YWCA’s mission of empowering women and eliminating racism is carried out by providing services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking. We offer supportive services, including crisis services, counseling, youth services, advocacy, and outreach. The YWCA provides services to individuals regardless of race, sex, gender, age, sexual orientation, economic background, etc.

How will this project make an impact?

Many of our clients enter our services with little to no access to daily essential items. These baskets will provide clients with immediate access to basic necessities that they may otherwise be unable to obtain. This is the first step towards stability for many of our clients as they are unable to focus on other personal needs if they cannot first fulfill their basic needs. By helping to address these basic needs, clients are able to begin to focus on other long-term goals, including safety, security, housing, counseling, self-esteem, etc.

Kits: Fill each bag with the items provided – only the items provided so that consistency and quality can be ensured for the recipients. This also helps with COVID-19 safety.

Compassion Cards: Create one Compassion Card for each kit. Use the instructions provided, or view them here.
