Nauticus Education Discovery Crew Volunteer - Ongoing
Nauticus does not accept court ordered volunteers.
As an Education Discovery Crew Volunteer, you will be helping guests get the most out of their visit to the Nauticus museum on a day-to-day basis and during special events! You will be engaging with visitors in mobile floor programs that complement gallery exhibits.

• Interest in science, history, humanities, technology and/or education
Qualifications:
You must be able to work, and interact, with a variety of guests from infants to elders in a positive, uplifting manner that ensures the guest is receiving great customer service. Position requires communication skills and may need to stand and talk in what can, sometimes, be a noisy environment for long periods of time. Some tasks may require the ability to stoop, bend, squat and lift. Must be good with being outdoors in different weather situations: warm, cold, and wet. We are always willing to discuss accommodations as needed. Minimum age is 14 years old.
Responsibilities:
As an Education Discovery Crew Volunteer you are responsible for delivering educational programs with the best form of customer service so that all guests are happy, content and filled with new knowledge when they leave Nauticus!
Orientation/Training:
All volunteers must complete a Nauticus New Volunteer Orientation (details providing once accepted into the program). Once this is complete, your first shift will include a tour of our program areas, an introduction to staff and programs and training on programs. If you are 18 or above, you must successfully pass a background check with the City of Norfolk (at no cost to you).
Commitment:
Minimum of 4 hours a month during the school year and 8 hours per month in the summer months
