Tage Counts, President & CEO


Tage Counts is proud to serve as the President & CEO of Volunteer Hampton Roads. Since returning to the Hampton Roads community in 1995, Tage has served within nonprofit, for-profit, and municipal organizations throughout the region. 

Tage currently serves his community in volunteer board roles with the Tidewater Community College Alumni Association and Lefcoe Leadership Alumni Association. He also mentors students and Old Dominion University and Tidewater Community College. He has given his time as a servant leader for other organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Portsmouth Partnership, and Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. His efforts were recognized as a previous recipient of Volunteer Hampton Roads' Corporate Volunteer Excellence Award. Tage is a graduate of LEAD Hampton Roads and the Vann H. Lefcoe Leadership Development Program. 

Tage currently resides in the city of Virginia Beach with his spouse of over 30 years, Diana. They are the proud parents of two adult children, Chase and Kacey. In his free time, Tage enjoys kayak fishing on the Back Bay of Virginia Beach and spending time with his family. 

Tage earned an Associate of Science Degree from Tidewater Community College.

Alana Slaughter, Director of Corporate Partnerships

Since joining VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads (VHR) in 2022, Alana has managed corporate relationships and programs, helping companies strengthen their community engagement strategies, gain recognition for their efforts, and connect meaningfully with the Hampton Roads community through VHR initiatives. A Virginia Beach native, Alana brings experience from the hospitality and information technology industries, where she focused on building lasting relationships and serving as a trusted advisor to her clients. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University and focuses on building strong, collaborative partnerships between businesses and the community. Outside of work, Alana is an avid soccer player and enjoys living at the oceanfront with her husband, two children, and rescue cat.

Lexie Martinez, Director of Communications & Software

Lexie Martinez became involved with Volunteer Hampton Roads in November 2017 when she started as a Public Relations and Marketing Intern. Volunteerism has been a part of her life since high school when she began volunteering for various outreach programs through her church. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications and is passionate about making a difference in the community through nonprofit work.

Casey Watson, Nonprofit & Volunteer Relations Manager

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from Texas A&M University, Casey immediately began working with local non-profits to serve her community. Casey has lived in several different states throughout her career and feels that volunteer work is the best way to embrace a new community. She is excited to work as Volunteer Hampton Roads' Nonprofit & Volunteer Relations Manager.
