Nauticus Exhibits Movie Operator Volunteer - Ongoing
Nauticus does not accept court ordered volunteers.
Role and Responsibilities
- Serve as a movie projectionist for the Brock Theater.
- Assist Nauticus guests with entering and exiting the theatre.
- Turn projection equipment on and off and operate systems.
- Turn lights on and off.
- Open and close doors.
- Track attendance.
- Assist with audio and video setup.
- Clean and monitor exhibits.
- Assist with exhibit projects.
Qualifications
- Literacy with basic operation of computers and electronics.
- Work independently in a control room to play up to 4 giant screen films/day.
- Ability to operate electronics equipment including movie projector, DVD players, CD players, amps and mixers.
- Proficient at problem solving and troubleshooting issues.
- Positive customer service skills.
- Ability to perform tasks that require manual dexterity including the pushing of buttons and changing disks.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift from the ground to above the shoulder, climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, squat, push and pull.
Time Commitment
- Minimum one shift per week.
- Shift Days/Times: Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10:30-2:45 pm
- Minimum total hours- 50 hours; Maximum total hours- Endless!
- Reports to Exhibits Manager.
- Training will be conducted on first day.
Orientation/Training:
All volunteers must complete a Nauticus New Volunteer Orientation (details providing once accepted into the program). Once this is complete, your first shift will include a tour of our program areas, an introduction to staff and programs and training on programs. If you are 18 or above, you must successfully pass a background check with the City of Norfolk (at no cost to you).
