Dismal Swamp Stomp Half Marathon, 5k & Children’s Cub Run

Be a part of the Dismal Swamp Stomp on Saturday, April 4, 2020!
Come out and join in the fun the 14th Annual Dismal Swamp Stomp Half Marathon, 5K and Children’s Half-Mile Cub Run in beautiful Chesapeake, Virginia, on Saturday, April 4, 2020. The event location is lush, with a mysterious landscape, which is rich in history.
We need many volunteers for this event to be a true success! All volunteers who work the event will receive appreciation, and thanks from City of Chesapeake, all the athletes, the charity partners, an official T-Shirt*, a Goodie Bag*, One Free Admission to Post-Race Party, and can opt to receive a personalized letter documenting their community service hours.
All volunteers are welcomed to stick around for great post-race party with beer, music, food and the awards. All participants and volunteers over 21 are invited to enjoy beer from Chesapeake’s favorite Big Ugly Brewery and enjoy live entertainment by the band Milk Crate Mafia!
Therefore, if you, or someone you know (groups welcomed) need community service hours, please consider volunteering for one, or all, of our events. We have other volunteer opportunities throughout the year where we could use your help. Race Expo/Packet Pickup
Race Expo/Packet pick up will be at Chesapeake Regional Medial Lifestyle Center, which is located at 800 North Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23320. The hours for packet pick up are on Friday, April 3 between the hours of 3:00PM to 7:00PM. If these hours do not work for you, a friend may pick up your packet for you.
Directions to Dismal Swamp Canal Trail:
From Richmond: Take exit 264 for I-664 S toward Downtown Newport News/Chesapeake/Suffolk, Continue onto I-664 S Monitor Merrimac Bridge Tunnel, Take exit 15B for I-64W toward Chesapeake/VA Beach, Take exit 296 for US-17 N/US-17 BUS S toward Portsmouth/Deep Creek, Turn right onto US-17 BUS S/George Washington Hwy N (signs for Elizabeth City), Turn left onto George Washington Hwy S, Turn right to stay on George Washington Hwy S You will see the park on your right just before you hit the US-17 Bypass towards Elizabeth City

From Virginia Beach: Take the Interstate 64 E toward Chesapeake/Suffolk, Take exit 291B to merge onto I-464 S/VA-168 S toward US-17 S/Elizabeth City/Outer Banks. Continue onto VA-168 S. Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 15B toward US-17 S/Elizabeth City. Follow Dominion Blvd N and George Washington Hwy S to George Washington Hwy (US-17 Bus). Turn right onto George Washington Hwy S. The park entrance is on your left.
