Position: Team Up Mentoring Volunteer Events Planner
Date: July 28, 2017
Supervisors: Team Up Program Supervisor
Time Commitment: 6 mos., or more; 2-4 hours/week
Description: The program is called Team Up Mentoring. We match adult volunteer mentors with at-risk youth ages 6-17 in South Hampton Roads who are in need of positive role models in their lives. The Team Up Events Planner is a successful and enthusiastic event planner who produces events from conception through to completion with the help of our Events Committee made up of Team Up mentors. The Events Planner plans fun and free monthly events for our matches, plans quarterly educative events for our teen matches, and provides a yearly mentor appreciation event in January. This job requires a minimum of 2-4 hours/week for 1 year.
Duties:

Lead the Events Committee and meet with them monthly to plan events

Plan, design and produce events while managing all project delivery elements within time limits

Liaise with mentors to identify their needs and to ensure customer satisfaction

Prepare invites that generate interest and enthusiasm amongst mentors for the events

Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality

Cooperate with marketing and development to promote and publicize events

Conduct pre- and post – event evaluations and report on outcomes
Qualifications:

Proven events management experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Exceptionally strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills

Demonstrated creativity, flexibility and comfort in working with diverse populations

Sales skills and ability to build productive partnerships with local businesses and organizations

MS Office proficiency
