Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia - Board Position

Ideal Candidate

  • Legally responsible: so that every eligible child can experience the power of a wish
  • Fiscally responsible: protect assets and oversee financial decision-making
  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity, maintain accountability
  • Monitor and strengthen programs, policies and services
  • Support the “give and get” policies by making and securing gifts for Make-A-Wish
  • Secure adequate resources to make wish granting possible
  • Enhance the public perception of Make-A-Wish while engaging the community
  • Assess board performance; recruit and support new Board members; and develop board succession plans.

Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia's mission is "Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses". Our clients range in age from 2 1/2 to 18 and live throughout Virginia (except for Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Fauquier, Prince William, and Loudon counties).

Board Member Financial Contribution Policy

MAW required board members are required to give a meaningful personal cash contribution and to make an additional "Get" contribution (sponsorships, inkind, etc.).
