Virginia Children's Chorus - Board Position

Ideal Candidate

Candidates for our Board should be excited about supporting non-profit arts organizations in Hampton Roads. They should understand or be willing to learn about the importance of music education for children. The candidate should be able to work hands-on with the Chorus staff, especially the Executive Director, in any one of the following specialties: public relations, accounting and financial planning and/or fundraising. Even if the candidate has not had fundraising experience, they should not be afraid to try contacting businesses to donate items or to sponsor our annual silent auction fundraiser or to sponsor Chorus projects.

Our chorus students range in age from 5 to 18. They join the Chorus through auditions and participate in rehearsals and concerts throughout the school year. Their parents and other family members are also members of our Chorus family and make up the majority of our volunteers.

Board Member Financial Contribution Policy

We ask board members to contribute $400 annually. However, if a board member is able to contribute talents in other significant ways, the group may approve a lower contribution rate. Some donation is required.
