CBF Maintenance Fridays

Over the past several years, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Hampton Roads Urban Restoration Program has installed 15 green infrastructure projects throughout Hampton Roads, including living shorelines, rain gardens, bioswales, grass buffers, and stormwater wetlands. These projects help reduce polluted stormwater runoff, prevent erosion along shorelines, enhance resilience against climate change, and beautify our communities.

To ensure these projects continue to function properly and maintain their beauty, maintenance is essential. We need volunteers to help with tasks such as pulling weeds, removing invasive species, laying down mulch or pine straw, and planting in bare areas. Join us every Friday from 9 am to Noon between September 12th and December 5th with a different project being worked on each week. All are welcome! Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

These projects would not have been possible without the support of our partners, such as the City of Norfolk, VT Agricultural Research and Extension Center, Teens With a Purpose, Master Gardeners, and the City of Norfolk Public School system. Thank you all for your continued support and guidance.
