WINKS - Board Member - Marketing Coordinator
WINKS- With INtentional Kindness and Support is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the brain tumor community. WINKS’ mission is to enhance the quality of life for brain tumor patients and caregivers, to ensure that no journey is traveled alone. WINKS is the only nonprofit organization focused solely on brain tumor patients and caregivers in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. Through its Empathy in Action program, WINKS provides emotional, financial, logistical, and informational support services. WINKS’ vision is to lift the burdens for brain tumor patients and their caregivers, so they can focus on the fight.
Our working Board is passionate and committed to the brain tumor community and includes people who are personally connected to this journey. We are seeking passionate people, who have a desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
The ideal Board candidate would:
- Attend board meetings and functions (board meeting currently quarterly)
- Be informed about the organization’s mission, services, policies, and programs
- Review agenda and supporting materials prior to meetings
- Serve on committees and offer to take on special assignments
- Contribute financially to the board per policies
- Inform others about the organization and advocate on its behalf
- Suggest nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the organization
- Follow conflict-of-interest/confidentiality policies
- Assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities
MARKETING COORDINATOR
- Develop Marketing and Communications goals
- Lead marketing and public relations efforts to increase awareness
- Develop and implement brand strategy to reflect and clearly articulate the WINKS’ mission and priorities
- Manages publicity and marketing of the organization
- Ensures development and board review of marketing policies and procedures
- Supervises social media and marketing volunteers
- Takes an active part in WINKS social media creation and marketing (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
- Creation and execution of monthly newsletter emails and any other marketing or announcement emails (currently based in GoDaddy)
- Collaborates with Project Manager and President/ CEO on layout and content of all public documents, e.g.: Annual Reports, Fliers, Posters
- Works with compassion and empathy to tell the stories of current brain tumor patients WINKS assists, including communication directly with those patients and their families to compile their stories and photographs.
