Ideal Candidate

The ideal board member is passionate about community, youth empowerment, and sustainable food systems. They bring leadership, expertise, and a spirit of service to help advance HRUA’s mission. They may have skills in nonprofit governance, fundraising, agriculture, education, finance, marketing, or community engagement, and use their networks to connect resources and open doors. An ideal candidate values diversity, equity, and inclusion, shows up actively for meetings and events, and serves as an advocate for local food and youth development. They are collaborative, mission-driven, and committed to helping HRUA grow and thrive.

Veterans and community members learning small-scale and urban farming skills. Volunteers and partners supporting education, training, and community garden projects. HRUA empowers these groups through hands-on farming, healthy eating education, and programs that build self-sufficiency and community resilience.
