Corporate and Community Relations Intern

Volunteer Position Title: Corporate and Community Relations Intern ORGANIZATION: VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads, Downtown office, 150 W. Main St. Suite 1801, Norfolk, VA 23510 Program: The Hampton Roads Corporate VOLUNTEER Council (HRCVC) is comprised of more than 50 local businesses dedicated to giving back to the community in which they serve. Membership in the HRCVC places employees in the community, while networking with like-minded businesses and partnering with dedicated, local nonprofits. In addition, to the HRCVC, the 44th Annual Hampton Roads VOLUNTEER Achievement Awards will be held in April 2019. The awards recognize community volunteer groups, corporations and individual volunteers for their contributions of service. This internship will help support planning for the event as well as ongoing HRCVC programming. Position Summary: The Corporate and Community Relations Intern will be responsible for creating a nonprofit resource guide for corporate volunteer teams. In addition the intern will assist in preparing for monthly meetings. Duties and Responsibilities: • Create a nonprofit volunteer resource guide for corporate volunteer teams • Scan and document important historical photographs and newspapers • Help solicit and outreach to nonprofit presenters • Create promotional flyers and press releases for upcoming corporate events • Track attendance and dues for the Hampton Roads Corporate VOLUNTEER Council • Assist with the recruitment of new and former members to the Corporate VOLUNTEER Council • Organize Corporate Social Responsibility resources and files • Revise and/or generate new training curriculums re: Corporate Social Responsibility • Conduct evaluations of community outreach programs and calculate ROI • Assist with creation of monthly HRCVC newsletter • Other duties assigned Preferred Skills: • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite • Ability to speak and write in a professional manner • Experience in data entry and typing • Very organized, ability to prioritize Time Commitment: • 3 hours of training with the Director of Development • Flexible work schedule • 5-10 hours per week Supervisor: • Melissa Reese, Director of Development For More Information Contact: • Melissa Reese at mreese@volunteerhr.org or 757-330-1431
