Who can post Volunteer Opportunities to your website?

Members can post an unlimited number of Volunteer Opportunities to our website which reaches our large network of volunteers.  Other organizations wishing to create one-time Volunteer Postings can pay a one-time fee here.

During disaster relief efforts, organizations can host disaster-related volunteer opportunities associated with the virtual volunteer reception center.  If your organization is not a member and would like to post disaster-related opportunities fill out our membership form here. Posting Your First Volunteer Opportunity

Step-by-step instructions on posting a volunteer opportunity. For a more detailed guide, view the HandsOn Connect How To Guide above.

After you sign in you are going to be directed to the partner portal. If you forgot your username or password contact Katrina Ardan for help.

  1. Click on the “Volunteer Opportunities” button on the left navigation bar
  2. Click on the green “Create Opportunity” button
  3. Fill out the following fields relating to your opportunity details. Be sure to pick the correct schedule type as this field is not editable (information on schedule type below).
    1. Date & Time Specific
      1. Sign Up- All volunteers can sign up until the opportunity has been filled
      2. Express Interest- Volunteers can express interest, meaning that they are only signed up after you approve them
    2. Individually Scheduled
      1. Express Interest Only- Volunteers express interest in an open ended time frame and are signed up after you approve them
      2. Express Interest with Schedule- Volunteers express interest in the dates and times they are available and are signed up after you approve them
  4. Create a Location (only if not completed in previous step)
  5. Setting Dates and Times
  6. Create Additional Occurences (can be created on a regular schedule or as a one of opportunity)
  7. Submit

Once you submit your opportunity we will review for any errors and post. After you have posted your opportunity you are able to change all fields except for registration and schedule type.


Updating Organization Information

How do I update my organization's basic information in your system?

If you are the primary contact for your organization, follow the steps below to update your organization's basic information.

  • Login to your Member Portal.
  • Click on the "My Organization" tab.
  • Click the "Edit" button.  You can edit basic information including your website, mission statement, address, and phone number.
  • If you are not the primary contact or need to change the primary contact, please email us your request.

How do I allow another staff member to access the Member Portal?

If you are the primary contact for your organization, follow the steps below to allow portal access for another staff member at your organization.  

  • Login to your Member Portal.
  • Click on the "My Organization" tab.
  • Scroll down to "My Organization Contacts" and click on the green "Create Organization Contact" button on the righthand side of the screen.
  • Enter their information and hit the "Save" button.
  • Email us to let us know that we should verify the staff member.  The staff member will receive an email at the address you provided granting them access within 2 business days.

What do I do if a staff member leaves our organization?

If a partner staff member listed on your portal has left the organization you will first need to make sure they are not coordinating any volunteer opportunities.  If they are coordinating opportunities you will need to change the opportunity coordinator for each opportunity they are linked to.  Information on how to do this is listed below.

Once you have done that you should email us here so that we can remove them from your organizational contacts.
