REACH and the Big Free Bookstore at Fuse Fest

REACH, Inc, (Reading Enriches All Children) supports its mission of distributing tens of thousands of books and literacy resources throughout Coastal Virginia. REACH distributed more than $500,000 worth of resources last year alone.

We need volunteers to assist REACH, Inc. at Fuse Fest event on August 5th, Saturday, from 11am until 6pm (split into two shifts).  Fuse Fest is a day of empowerment, creativity, and fun!With exciting activities, artivism, social justice, music, food and a community fun. FUSE FEST CELEBRATES URBAN LIFE, IGNITING HOPE, HEALING AND POSITIVE ENERGY IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH ART, MUSIC, CULTURE AND INTERACTIVE ZONES FOR ALL GENERATIONS.   

What to Expect:

Volunteers will need to actively engage with people who approach the table to discuss REACH, Inc.'s mission, pass out informational flyers, and distribute free books. Volunteers will assist with set-up at the beginning and takedown at the end of the event.  Volunteers will move books and need to be able to lift 10-30 lbs, capable of bending, squatting, and standing.  Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes (sneakers/tennis shoes). The majority of the project will require a lot of walking, sitting, and standing.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Open to Ages 16* and older (*Volunteers ages 16 - 17 must have a parent or legal guardian on-site during shift).

  • Special Events volunteers DO NOT require a Background Check, but NO volunteer can have a misdemeanor that involves cash or theft and absolutely NO FELONIES of any kind
  • Please ensure on your end that you are in good standing.  By signing up, you attest that you DO NOT have a misdemeanor that involves cash or theft and FELONIES of any kind.
  • Once all requirements are completed, we will send you additional information regarding your volunteer event. 
  • If you show up to volunteer without the completed requirements, you will be turned away until it is completed and verified.

We can provide a letter for community service if needed showing all accumulated hours once community service is completed. (Letters provided 1-3 business days after request.) Military service letters provided!
